Phase cancellation is bad, right? Well, not always – you can use it creatively! Start with any sound you like. Duplicate the track. Then invert the polarity of the copy. And you get silence – the two waveforms are cancelled out.

Now apply effects like EQ, modulation and any effect you want to one of the tracks. Strange artifacts will emerge from the interaction. This can generate unexpected movement and textures – great for experimental sounds or background layers.
