This concept will improve the flow and narrative of your music productions.
The concept of ‘foreshadowing’ is popular in movies and novels. Events early in the story will hint at later outcomes. Then, when the full story is revealed at the end, this brings completeness, resolution, and satisfaction.
So how can you use foreshadowing in your music?
✅ Take key sounds or motifs from later in the song, and tease them through the intro.
✅ Make these ‘teaser’ elements sound small and distant with effects like filters and reverb.
✅ Only play short sections or loops earlier on in the arrangement, and extend them later on for the ‘big reveal’!
