👆Tyso tip: synthesising custom hi-hats using the Tyso Daiko’s bell and cymbal wave shapes with audio rate frequency sweep + processing from the built in wavefolder.💥
.
Starting with noise, the wave control of the Tyso Daiko is swept, stopping around the bell and cymbal wave shapes. The fold control is increased, adding harmonics and noise to the wave. The pitch sweep section is then engaged and increased to audio rate, acting like built in FM over the percussive voice. By modulating the release control, the closed hi-hat can be ‘opened’ at specific intervals just like actual cymbals. Careful adjustments to the pitch section and wave controls greatly affect the complex aliasing of the 12-bit voice, resembling the metallic timbres produced by actual cymbals. 🔔
