MCO - Virtana

🥂 Creating crisp dual oscillator square wave tones using the new MCO (mkII)’s Virtana voice, a 90s style dual oscillator ’virtual-analog’ synthesiser voice great for producing classic subtractive sounds with digital clarity. ✨

Starting from the Virtana’s ‘Detune1’ preset, oscillator B is re-tuned to a fifth above oscillator A. The built in low pass filter is then assigned CV from LFO1 (a random wave that is reset with each trigger). The built in ADSR envelope is assigned the same LFO, creating varied swells that change equally with the Cutoff. Using the global chord setting, unison detune is added by selecting ‘Detune A’, stacking 4 detuned copies of the Virtana’s 2 oscillators. Finally, an additional trigger from Pamela’s PRO Workout is patched to the MCO’s External input which momentarily hard resyncs the phase of the 4 detuned voices, resulting in a characteristic pluck sound with each trigger.
