If you want the punchiest, tightest drums, a pro trick to add more punch is to layer a new transient on top. You could add a new click using our Snapback layering plugin.

Then zoom in and look at the wave cycles. If the kick and transient layer are out of phase with each other, you can invert the polarity of the transient. This flips its waveform upside down.

Another thing you can do is Shift the transient layer earlier or later in time. And you can also adjust pitch.

Once the the peaks and troughs line up, you’ll have a much punchier kick.
